Terms of Sale & Use

These terms apply when you visit clceramics.com or buy from C&L Ceramics (“we”, “us”). By placing an order, you agree to them, along with our Shipping & Returns policy and our Privacy Policy. If anything here is unclear, just ask us.
1. Handmade work
Every piece is made by hand, one at a time. Variations in shape, size, color, glaze, texture and speckling, and the small marks of the making and firing process, are part of each piece’s character rather than defects. Heights and other measurements are approximate, and colors can look a little different on different screens. We describe and photograph every piece as accurately as we can.
2. Orders and availability
When you start checkout, the pieces in your cart are held for you for a short time; if payment isn’t completed, they become available again. Your order is confirmed when you see the confirmation page after payment or receive our confirmation email. If a piece turns out to be unavailable, or was listed with a clear error in its price or description, we may cancel that part of the order and refund you in full. We may also decline orders we reasonably believe are fraudulent or intended for resale.
3. Prices, tax and payment
Prices are in US dollars. Shipping and any sales tax are shown before you pay. Payments are processed securely by our payment provider, and we never see or store your full card number. If you think you’ve been charged incorrectly, email orders@clceramics.com and we’ll sort it out.
4. Shipping
We ship to addresses in the United States, as described in our Shipping & Returns policy. Delivery dates are estimates; carriers occasionally run late. Every piece is packed carefully by hand, and we take responsibility for damage in transit until your order is delivered. Please double-check your shipping address, since we can’t be responsible for orders sent to an address that was entered incorrectly.
5. Damage and final sale
All sales are final. If a piece arrives damaged or isn't as described, send us a photo of the piece and its packaging within the time stated in our Shipping & Returns policy and we'll make it right. Refunds go back to your original payment method.
6. Caring for your pieces
Each listing includes care notes, and pieces that aren’t marked food safe are meant for decoration rather than food or drink. Like all ceramics, our pieces can chip or break if dropped or exposed to sudden changes in temperature. We can’t be responsible for damage that happens after delivery through accidents, misuse or not following the care notes.
7. Our designs and photos
The designs, photographs, sketches, text and the C&L Ceramics name on this site belong to us. You’re welcome to share links to our pieces, but please don’t copy or reuse our designs, photos or content without permission, including for training AI tools. Owning a piece doesn’t include the rights to its design.
8. Using the site
Please use the site the way it’s intended: no automated buying, scraping or interfering with how it works. We may cancel orders or block access where that happens.
9. Emails and your information
When you order, we’ll email you about your order and its delivery. If you sign up for news, you can unsubscribe at any time. How we handle your information, including for analytics and advertising, and the choices you have, are explained in our Privacy Policy.
10. Sharing your photos
If you send us photos of your pieces or a note about them for us to share, you’re letting us use them on our site and social media. We’ll always ask before using your name or handle.
11. Our responsibility
We stand behind our work as described in these terms and our Shipping & Returns policy. Beyond that, and to the extent the law allows, our responsibility for any order is limited to the amount you paid for it. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have as a consumer that can’t be limited by law.
12. California law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, where our studio is based.
13. Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. The version in place when you place an order is the one that applies to it, and the date above shows the latest update.
